We offer four specific training opportunities for health care professionals.
What We Offer
For Health Care Professionals
Introduction to Therapeutic Music
Are you employed in a managerial, clinical or caring capacity in a hospital, hospice or care home?
The day will provide an evidence base and examples of music in healthcare settings. It will offer a creative exploration, and a practical toolkit. It will provide the opportunity to practice different ways of using music to enhance both self- awareness and responsive connections within the broader soundscape of your setting.
- No previous experience needed.
- One day.
- Minimum 8 participants. Maximum 16.
The Musical Breath: Creative Approaches to Rehabilitation
Are you a respiratory nurse specialist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist or other allied heath professional looking for creative approaches to use in rehabilitation or other areas of clinical practice?
This experiential day will provide a toolkit in how to work creatively with the body, breath and voice with a focus on breathlessness. It will introduce elements of Singing for Lung Health including how to support better breath management through music, movement and mindfulness. Supporting dysfunctional postural and breathing patterns, low mood, anxiety, dyspnea or dysphonia, this training can support clinical work with a broad range of patients.
- No previous experience needed.
- One day.
- Minimum 8 participants. Maximum 16.
Introduction to Leading Community Singing
Are you a health care professional with a musical background? Do you play an instrument or sing in a group? Do you understand your root from your fifth and your quaver from your crotchet ?
This one day introduction will provide the basics facilitating singing for community groups. You will gain an overview of how to structure a session, the content and delivery of physical, breath and vocal warm-ups, how to teach pulse, tempo and melody ‘by ear’ and structure, as well the basics of musical non-verbal communication i.e. ‘song leading’. It is really important to note this day is a generic introduction and will not give you the skills to lead a group of singers with lung conditions . It will provide a useful introduction for those who wish to progress to the standard 3 day training.
